You made it! It’s finally the end of another work week. Sure, the weekend has lost a bit of its luster lately, but no work is still no work, even if it is just sitting at home doing nothing. I mean, unless you have kids or a family or responsibilities and if so, that’s a “you” problem.
Watch The Video
Ok. You watched the video, right? If you didn’t, sort yourself and do it now. Alright, same page. This scene is one of those things that even the most talented writers couldn’t hope to add to with their commentary so I have zero chance but SEO dictates I do so here it goes. In life, we seldom come across things that are perfect. Life, in itself, is imperfect. Perfection is often desired but rarely achieved. In the video above, perfection is not only achieved but eclipsed. This scene is the One-Above-All of movie scenes. It has no predecessor. It has no follow up. This is what I imagine it would be like to see God.
I won’t bore you with a play by play break down of this particular work of art. If that’s the sort of thing you’re into, check out this pod. More than enough is said there. I will, however, marvel at the fact that this exists. Just think about that for a moment. Presumably responsible adults made this movie. People with husbands and wives and children. People with mortgages and jobs and the right to vote made this. This was written on paper, read in front of countless people and not one objected. Then, a set was designed, props fabricated and fight choreography developed. Still, no one said a thing. Finally, days were spent filming this scene. Days filled with numerous adult human beings working towards one common goal of getting this done. This existing is one of the greatest miracles in the history of the world.
I am no Hollywood insider but I know enough to understand that studios constantly interfere with a films production. The fact that, not only did someone conceive of this in the first place, but that the litany of people who had to sign off on it signed off on it is incalculable.
Have I Gone Too Far?
It may seem like I am making too much of this. I assure you I’m not. One of my favorite things in life is seeing a movie or show or idea that is so out there it has no business existing but yet, it does. I love a giant swing whether you connect or not. It feels like creatives with a specific vision are often derailed by those with the money. When someone is allowed to execute said vision, no matter how insane or nonsensical it may be, well, that brings me more joy than I can properly articulate.
Also, see the below gif because while it may not make any sense it is the culmination of my vision and that’s all that matters.
