On Black Friday I started thinking about the sports-related apparel I’d like as gifts for the commercial holiday that is Christmas. I’ve gone through and decided what jerseys, shirts, hats, and miscellaneous household things I would like. I’m a medium, just so you know.
Let’s start with the jerseys. I haven’t purchased a jersey for any of my teams in quite some time. I have an old Dustin Pedroia home jersey (the fake one that has the name on the back), Wes Welker blue from the 2011 season, Paul Pierce classic away, and a Milan Lucic home jersey from the 2011 Stanley Cup-winning season. I’ve never owned a Revs kit with a name on the back, however, I spent 2011 until 2017 getting my favorite of the three Spurs kits. I didn’t get one last season, but I’m all about one of this season’s…
I haven’t had a home kit since the Aaron Lennon one my buddy Eric ordered for me in 2011. Spurs have had a red sponser on their home shirts for a few seasons now, so even if I wanted to go Lillywhite, I can’t bring myself to do it. However this light blue third kid with the collar and the old school Nike logo? It speaks to me. And Dele is about to have a resurgence.
I don’t know how long Bou will be in New England, but once he joined midseason the Revs turned themselves around and somehow snuck into a playoff spot. I’m here for him quickly becoming a leader and driving them to more success next season.
Some of the color rush jerseys are garbage. When the Bills and Jets played a few seasons ago on Thursday Night my color-blind eyes nearly gave me a panic attack. I wasn’t sure how the Patriots were going to look, but I love the simplicity of this navy jersey with the red and white stripes on the shoulders. And Jules is a beast.
Bergy is an absolute legend, and I’m honestly disappointed in myself that I don’t already own one of his jerseys.
I love basketball. I love the Celtics. I love Tatum. His coming to Boston (says the Bostonian living in New York) has been part of a solid movement that could give us the opportunity to raise banner 18. He’s growing into a stronger player and should be the future of this team. This particular green and white is iconic.
The Red Sox are the first team I remember going to see in person. There was a period of time during which I started falling out of love with baseball. Mookie came in and made it exciting for me again. He’s laid back and has fun out there.
I own a ton of hats already, but I’m sorely missing hats for my teams. I went through a phase during which I had fitted hats all the time, then I got tired of them and jumped on the snapback train.
If I’m honest I really wish the Revs would get a new badge. I’m not a big fan of the ball as part of the flag. The supporters groups have much more cool and hip logos. That said, I like the chambray look of this, so here it is.
An all-black hat could be cool, too. But the gold brim is a nice touch and it screams support for the B’s.
It’s difficult for me to land on a Celtics hat that I like. This is different. It’s black, the emblem is dope. I’d wear this all the time.
I need a simple Sox hat. Somehow I don’t have one anymore, and I need the most basic of Boston baseball hats added to my collection.
It’s basic. I like a navy hat and throwing the cockerel above the brim is all that’s needed.
The Patriots and Bruins are the true cold-weather teams in New England. Sure, the Celtics play through the winter too, but they wear shirts and tank tops so they don’t count.
New England Patriots New Era 2019 NFL Sideline Home Official Historic Logo Sport Knit Hat – Royal/Red
Classic logo. Pat the Patriot. Established 1960. I’d happily wear this at the bar on Sundays or to an actual game.
I love the simplicity of this, and am super into the alternate logo. Basic B. Black, white, and gold. It has everything.
This makes me feel like I could be sitting on the sideline as a coach or named to the bench.
My dad owned one of these. I had one as a 4 or 5-year-old. Unfortunately, I grew out of it and need to add it back to my collection. I’m pretty sure I’m done growing at this point, so don’t need to be concerned growing out of it again.
I didn’t have one of these as a kid, but I love this for all the same reasons I love the Celtics one. Straight up nostalgia factor here.
Am I a trainer? No. Would I look like one? Yes. I’m into it.
Take 2: Am I a trainer? No. Would I look like one? Yes. I’m still into it.
I like a full zip hoodie. I also like the sectioned sleeves on this. Normally I go with navy as the primary, but I like the white here.
This hoodie looks like it’s basically a jersey. Therefore it’s the bomb.com.
This is a perfect “wear while I’m doing chores” sweatshirt. I only have a handful of non-hooded sweatshirts, and I’m ready to add to my collection.
Classic pullover. Championship caliber. In my preferred navy. I don’t own enough Red Sox stuff. Can’t go wrong.
If there’s anything on this long, long list that I would absolutely love, it would be this. I don’t know what makes me so drawn to this. Maybe it’s the white chest. Maybe it’s the call out to the club’s postcode. I really don’t know, but I love it.
Shirts and other clothes
New England Patriots NFL Pro Line by Fanatics Branded True Classic Vintage Slub Henley Long Sleeve T-Shirt – Royal
Big fan of the color. I’ll always be a sucker for Pat the Patriot. And I don’t own enough Henleys.
This is somehow the only set of pajamas I liked. But, honestly, I’ll wear these all winter.
Kemba Walker Boston Celtics Nike 2019/2020 Name & Number Performance T-Shirt – Green and Jaylen Brown Boston Celtics Nike 2019/20 City Edition Name & Number T-Shirt – Green
I like the fact that the Celts have a Brown (7) and Walker (8). Dee Brown was the first Celtics jersey I ever owned, and I wish I still had it. I could pretend it’s a throwback Jaylen top. I’ve always been a fan of Kemba, dating back to UCONN, even though I don’t really follow college sports.
This is my attempt at looking like a New England dad. No further description necessary. Can’t wait for spring training!
Instead of getting a jersey last year, I went with a similar polo when I was at the team shop in London. It’s a classy look, and soccer is a classy sport.
Stereotypical soccer gift. I’d hang this on my wall.
I think a chess set would make more sense, but that’s Bill’s game. All the rest of us are playing checkers.
Baseball games somehow still breach four hours even though there’s a pitch clock. I love the game, but if I was drinking beer I’d be throwing them back for hours and I’d be wasted. With this rocks glass set, I can casually sip on my whiskey and suddenly the game will be over.
I own a ton of clothing and, conveniently, my hamper is behind my bedroom door. If I had this hoop, it would make laundry a bit more exciting.
Who doesn’t want a personalized gift? Who doesn’t need coasters? Bonus? Their hockey specific and look like pucks.
I own a Spurs license plate already. It sits atop the door frame in my bedroom. Why not get something to put it in?
Happy Shopping! Can’t wait to see what you get me!
