Baseball is back! We finally have pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training, thus signifying the beginning of a new season. Not a lot typically goes on during these first few days. Some playing of catch, some talking to the media and maybe we get a mega extension for the most exciting young star in the game. Not usually much of note until the entire roster of invitees arrives. You get a lot of, ‘best shape of my life’ quotes and other nothing platitudes while everyone eases into the coming season grind ahead.
Well, that is unless you ask Zack Britton about his feelings on known domestic abuser, and teammate, Domingo German.
Most (all) other players, not just in baseball but any sport, would simply “no comment” this, or just dance around the asshole in the room. Not Zack. He did not stop there either. Mr. Britton decided to double-down on Twitter when ignorant, or possibly terrible, fans started getting on him about it. Zack don’t mess around, as you can see from the below.
Look, I know he did the absolute bare minimum of being a decent human being here, but like it or not, that’s not nothing. Especially when it comes to sports. There are too many incidents and players to list that continue to bank crazy dollars despite being terrible human beings. Zack Britton now has two of those pieces of shit to call teammates with Domingo and longtime closer Aroldis Chapman.
I know it doesn’t seem like a lot to say what Britton said, but we gotta start somewhere. Props to him. Maybe others will follow. Probably not, but maybe.
Alright, that’s enough of my sanctimonious, holier than thou, soapbox standing sermon. I just really hate those guys. F**k Domingo German and f**k Aroldis Chapman.
