JJ Watt announced that he’s signing with the Arizona Cardinals. This was a surprise for some, but not so much for others. NFL Twitter was abuzz when D-Hop pushed all his chips in, and now there’s a very clear reason for it.
Many will wonder about a slew of things. Who had a shot to sign JJ? Did anyone else make offers? Why is he making an announcement before Schefter gets a crack at it?
But instead of any of those, or other related subjects, we are asking a very different question. One that, arguably, everyone should be talking about. Why is JJ Watt wearing a beanie while working out in this announcement?
Many within our ranks are beanie people. We wear beanies for at least half the year. So we’re not questioning why JJ would wear one. We’re question why he would desecrate a beanie by getting it all gross during a workout.
Would we do that, wear a workout beanie like JJ Watt? No way!
There’s also the practicality of it to take into account. It surely does not feel like it would be comfortable. And we’d imagine it gets really hot under there. His face shows that there’s no doubt it’s a pretty intense workout. And his ears are covered! He must be melting in there.
A baseball style cap seems a more appropriate accessory to sit atop one’s head in a workout. Maybe it’s different because JJ Watt clearly doesn’t have to worry about this in the same way, but a beanie seems impractical when you’re working out and you need to wear a mask!
Where does this end? Is he going to throw on a hoodie, two layers of sweatpants, and some work boots? Did JJ Watt wear a beanie simply for the photo opportunity? Or does he really work out while wearing one?
We ask the hard hitting questions here. So, JJ, we want to know why you’re wearing a beanie!
