Monday Night Football Preview: Chiefs vs Ravens

Estimated Reading Time: 2 Minutes

For 50 years Monday Night Football has given us a reason to look forward to Mondays. The iconic broadcast showcases the best the NFL has to offer. From armchair Quarterbacks to pitcher and wing deals, from Cosell to Levy, all our rowdy friends are here for Monday Night.

It’s the match many expected to see last year in the AFC Title Game, and the one most are predicting for this year’s Title Game. 2018 MVP Patrick Mahomes leads his Chiefs into Baltimore to take on 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson on Monday Night in this blockbuster matchup.

Kansas City Keys to Victory: Start Fast and Dominate Time of Possession

The Chiefs love their come from behind victories, but eventually that mojo may run out. KC set a record last year with 3 double digit come from behind victories en route to a Super Bowl victory. They also spotted rookie QB Justin Herbert and the LA Chargers a 14-9 lead before going 14-3 in the 4th Quarter and OT. I don’t think you want to spot Lamar Jackson any points. In fact the more you can keep him off the field the better. The Chiefs can do that by leaning on Clyde Edwards-Helaire and the run game. They can put up points but limiting the Ravens time of possession will be key.

Baltimore’s Keys to Victory: The Passing Game Opens Up the Run

Lamar can run, and run well. You know this, I know this, and KC knows this. They might not have the best D but the Chiefs will aim to bottle up Jackson early. He can back them off by coming out throwing downfield in the first few drives of the game. If he can effectively move the ball without his legs, he may end up confounding KC with a healthy mix of pass and run the rest of the way.

Final Word

We all are hoping for this to be the shoot out we all want. And I think it will be just that. Both high powered offenses will be ready after an extra day’s rest. Get ready for a touchdown fest on Monday Night.

It’s hard to pick a winner in this one. But I think there are two solid bets that can be made. I’d take the 1st half spread (Baltimore -3). As I covered above, KC breaks late. I also like the prop bet Any time touchdown scorer- Lamar Jackson (+120 or better).

FINAL: Kansas City 38 Ravens 31
