Monday Night Football Preview: Patriots vs. Jets

Estimated Reading Time: 2 Minutes

For 50 years, Monday Night Football has given us a reason to look forward to the start of the workweek. The iconic broadcast showcases the best the NFL has to offer. From armchair Quarterbacks to pitcher and wing deals, from Cosell to Levy, all our rowdy friends are here for Monday Night.

No Brady, No Difference

The Jets finally get a matchup with the Patriots in the post-Tom Brady era, but it shouldn’t matter all the much. Any other year this might be reason for celebration, but the Jets are just so bad this year. The Patriots only have to worry about themselves this Monday Night.

Patriots Keys to Victory: Cam has to get going

This is a good one for the Patriots to get back in the groove. Cam Newton has struggled lately. In fact, he hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass since week 3, and his touchdown to interception ratio on the season is 2-7. The Pats have lost 4 straight, and if there is any team to get back on track with, it’s against the Jets on Monday night. New England will be able to handle the Jets offense (if you can call it that), but the offenseir has to get right, and it starts with Cam Newton.

Jet’s Keys to Victory: Get in Cam’s head

Winning would be a very Jets thing to do right here. Working to become the top spot for Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, no matter how clever the hashtag #tank4trevor any proud NFL team will tell you they try to win each and every week. But you might have to show Trevor he’s not going to go to a dud, remember… he doesn’t have to declare.

Final Word

Cam isn’t good, but neither are the Jets. Hard to pick them in a game this year. With that said, they will probably win at least one game this season. This one won’t be it, but it might be as close as they come so far this year. Look for this low scoring affair to end with the Pats securing the W. The Pats have this one in the bag.

The 10-point spread to the Pats is worrying, as there are chances for either team to not cover. The Over/Under at 40.5 is what I am looking at. If you believe New York will have trouble scoring, then look to Cam. Is Cam tossing 3 TDs? Probably not. Bet the Under in what will be a slow game on Monday Night.

FINAL: Patriots 20, Jets 9
