Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears

Two storied franchises meet this Monday night in a battle of mediocrity. Who will emerge victorious and bestowed with the honor of fighting for a first-round wild card loss? The stakes could not be higher. Both teams lack an actual long term answer at the most important position in the game. Both teams have had key injuries to important positional groups. One team has vastly overachieved, the other cannot decide if it wants to tank or be competent. We are in for a wild one!

Vikings Keys To Victory: Don’t Make Cousins Do Too Much

I could easily have said give Dalvin the ball 40 times but let’s be honest here. The biggest issue with this team has and always will be Kirk Cousins. If you don’t allow him to lose the game for you you won’t lose the game. It’s that simple. They cannot let this joke of an ‘offense’ get going.

That should not be that difficult but the Vikings defense is not a typical Zimmer defense. The pass rush is young and lacking. The defensive backfield is injured and inexperienced. Feed Dalvin early and often and eat up the clock. No big plays on defense. Just, for the love of God, do not let Kirk have to be the deciding factor because if you are a Vikings fan (full disclosure I am) you will not like the outcome.

Bears Keys To Victory: Stopping Dalvin Cook (lol)

Look, the Bears defense is no joke. They are the only reason this squad isn’t winless right now challenging the Lions for biggest joke in NFL history. They are also facing Dalvin Cook. This man has been putting up gaudy numbers this year, especially the past two weeks. If the Bears want to win this game they don’t have to shut him down, they just have to contain him. By contain him I mean keep him under 200 yards rushing. Sounds so much easier than it is.

Final Word

The Vikings should win this easily. However they always have issues at Soldier Field and Kirk never seems to shine in primetime. Against my better judgement, I am going with the Vikings to win. The line is Minnesota -3. If I were a gambling man I take the Vikings. As a Viking fan, I am staying away from this game like it’s contagious.

Josh grew up in the midwest and upon graduating from the University of Iowa he wanted to see the world. After 4 years in Jacksonville he decided he was cultured enough and moved on to Birmingham England (known to the locals as the Detroit of the UK) and then west to San Francisco before settling in NYC. He pays his bills working in finance making sure the 1% remains on top. When he is not selling his soul and unable to look himself in the mirror, he spends his time writing mean things about sports while his dog, Sweet Dee, silently judges from her spot on the couch. He is very biased and never wrong. He would also like to thank Rotowire for never changing their NBA League Pass and MLB.TV passwords from that year when he was an NBA Beat Writer for the Nuggets for some reason.
