Every year around this time we all get excited to watch college kids become millionaires before we are even close to sniffing a million dollars accumulated over time. We also get excited because we all feel we have tangible thoughts on what our team should do with their prized pick. Well, you can rest easy because I’m sure this is how every pick will turn out.
#1 Arizona Cardinals – Nick Bosa DE – Ohio State
Team Needs: OL, DL, CB, WR
Much has been made of the Cardinals drafting Kyler Murray here. The truth to that is it takes a lot for an NFL team to give up on a Rookie QB who was slated to be the franchise QB. I also don’t feel they will find a trade partner in time for the first pick. I think the temptation of Nick Bosa as well as the pedigree that he brings is the way to go here.
NFL Comparison: Joey Bosa (it’s not lazy if it’s obvious)
#2 San Francisco 49ers – Josh Allen DE – Kentucky
Team Needs: DE, WR, CB, OL
Ideally, the 49ers would prefer to have Nick Bosa and perhaps were expecting it. In my eyes, Josh Allen is the the better football player. I’m excited to watch his career. The Niners drafted a violent-natured player who will haunt Offensive Tackles, Quarterbacks and meet Running backs in the backfield. He in no way is a consolation, he is the real deal regardless of who is taken ahead of him.
NFL Comparison: Yannick Ngakoue
#3 New York Jets – Montez Sweat DE – Miss. State
Team Needs: OT, DE, WR, G/C
The Jets Would prefer to get a OT at this position especially given the top two DE are off the board. However, let me tell you Montez Sweat is much better than the Top offensive line man. That’s a fact-ish.. Montez Sweat has upped his draft stock with a stellar Senior Bowl campaign and a equally impressive Combine performance.
NFL Comparison: Danielle Hunter
#4 Oakland Raiders – Kyler Murray QB- Oklahoma
Team Needs: DE, CB, WR, LB
NFL Comparison: Russell Wilson
The wily Jon Gruden strikes again. The Carr- Gruden match is clearly not working. You could tell mid-season when Gruden was pretty much done with Carr. Defying the Oakland Raiders actual needs, Gruden summons his inner Al Davis and cashes in on his well documented love affair with Kyler Murray. Murray is a two sport star who recently chose the NFL over MLB.
#5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Dwayne Haskins QB- Ohio State
Team Needs: QB, OT, S, LB
Small shocker. The Bucs need a QB who at the very can stay out of trouble and be consistently available. Winston may start the season but he is definitely handing the ball over sooner rather than later.
NFL Comparison: Phillip Rivers
#6 New York Giants- Jonah Williams
Team Needs: LB, OT, S, QB
The Giants lose opportunity at both QBs they kind of panic and reach for Jonah Williams. It’s a pretty big reach but still a decent player. The Giants also need help at what feels like any position. It’s hard to draft wrong, at least position wise, if you’re the Giants. They need help every where.
NFL Comparison: Cam Robinson
#7 Jacksonville Jaguars- Jawaan Taylor OT- Florida
Team Needs: OL, TE, WR, S
The Jags shored up the QB position in Free Agency by signing Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles to the teams biggest free agent contract in team history. I doubt they will take QB in the first round. Tight End is an option, but
NFL Comparison: Mitchell Schwartz
#8 Detroit Lions- Rashan Gary DE- Michigan
Team Needs: DE, CB, WR, TE
As a growing theme here in the Top 10 , Detroit Lions choose to stay in state and pick DE Rashan Gary. The athletic pass rusher helped lead the University of Michigan to the best defense in college football. Let’s see if he can help the Lions.
NFL Comparison: Ryan Kerrigan
#9 Buffalo Bills- Quinnen Williams DT – Alabama
Team Needs: WR, OT, DT, DE
Possibly the steal of the top 10 so far. Th bills would love to address other positions at this spot but definitely cant pass up a talent like the Alabama prospect. Look for Quinnen to be trouble for years to come.
NFL Comparison: Gerald McCoy
#10 Denver Broncos- Drew Lock Qb- Missouri
Team Needs: QB, OT, CB, WR
Flacco is not the future but he is key to the development of the future of Elway’s broncos. Lock will learn under the tutelage of Joe Flacco for about 2 years. This is an investment pick.
NFL Comparison: Matthew Stafford
#11 Cincinnati Bengals- Devin White LB- LSU
Team Needs: TE, OL, LB, CB
Steal! Strong! Speed! Stud! This guy brings leadership as well as Top 5 talent and not just at his position but of all the players being drafted. I predict Devin White to have the best career of all players drafted.
NFL Comparison: Myles Jack
#12 Green Bay Packers- Ed Oliver DL- Houston
Team Needs: QB, DL, G/C, WR
One of the more versatile players in the draft. Oliver could play any position on the defensive line at any moment. Oliver could have easily been a top 10 pick last year. Game Changer!
NFL Comparison: A-A-RON DONALD
#13 Miami Dolphins- Daniel Jones QB- Duke
Team Needs- QB, DL, G/C, WR
Big Reach but I mean…. Dolphins. Even though I am predicting the Dolphins to make this reach, it does not come without a lot of potential. Jones being coached by David Cutcliffe has drawn comparisons of the infamous Manning brothers.… Still a reach.
NFL Comparison: Eli Manning
#14 Atlanta Falcons- Greedy Williams- LSU
Team Needs: DT, CB, DE, G
Tall, lanky 6’3″ athlete. He’s a shut down corner that can focus on the Julio Jones’ and the Allen Robinson’s of the world. Bright future adding to a great young defense who was riddled with injury this past season.
NFL Comparison: AJ Bouye
#15 Washington Redskins- D.K. Metcalf WR- Ole Miss
Team Needs: QB, WR, Edge Rush, S
Monster of a man. If he farts, you tell him it smells like spring. The sky is the limit for this physical wide receiver. D.K.’s hands are not the greatest as well as worries that he is a deep ball threat only. However extra time on the jugs machine should help.
NFL Comparison: Mike Evans
#16 Carolina Panthers- Clelin Ferrell DE- Clemson
Team Needs: OT, DE, C, S
Addressing a need at defensive end the Carolina Panthers select Ferrell out of Clemson out of what seems to be DLU (D-Line-University) as of late. Clemson has put top flight talent in the league and Carolina picked the next pro.
NFL Comparison: Carlos Dunlap
#17 New York Giants- Byron Murphy CB- Washington
Team Needs: OT, QB, CB, S
Once again the giants are just a pick or two short of their guy. I can see Greedy Williams fitting well with the Giants but given their situation they will be happy to select Byron Murphy.
NFL Comparison: Casey Heyward
#18 Minnesota Vikings- Cody Ford OT/G- Oklahoma
Team Needs: OT, G/C, OLB, DT
Very solid pick here for the Vikings. Minnesota needs Tackle and Guard help and Ford can play either position. We’ll let the Vikings decide where he’ll be protecting Kirk Cousins and opening holes for Dalvin Cook.
NFL Comparison: Duane Brown
#19 Tennessee Titans- Marquise Brown WR, Oklahoma
Team Needs: CB, Pass Rush, DT, WR
Tennessee would prefer to address more immediate need here however, most of what they want is gone. The Titans and MM8 will definitely enjoy this addition however. The Oklahoma speedster is the home run hitter of the draft.
NFL Comparison: Emmanuel Sanders
#20 Pittsburgh Steelers- T.J. Hockenson- Iowa
Team Needs: CB, LB, Pass Rusher, G/C
Steelers say screw team needs, we are going Best Player Available. They take the talented Tightend whom many thought would go Top 10. Big ben needs more reliability in his old age, Hockenson would be that target. He’s a very tough player to tackle and is not afraid to mix it up blocking also.
NFL Comparison; Travis Kelce
#21 Seattle Seahawks- Greg little OT, Ole Miss
Team Needs: DE, OT, CB , OLB
A bonafide bookend tackle, when you look at him. This guy stands 6’6″ 325 and i dare you can him anything other than a Tackle. The problem with Little is his consistency. he will need to be more consistent on the next level if he wants to have a successful career.
NFL Comparison: Russell Okung
#22 Baltimore Ravens- AJ Brown WR, Ole Miss
Team Needs: G/C, WR, LB, Pass Rush
Some how Ole Miss seems to always make noise on day 1. Here we have two former Ole Miss Stars going #back2back and also 3 of the last 7 picks. Ravens address a gaping need Left by John Brown and Michael Crabtree. Hopefull AJ Brown will supply Lamar Jackson with plenty of touchdowns.
NFL Comparison: Stefon Diggs
#23 Houston Texans- Garret Bradbury OL/G, NC State
Team Needs: OT, OG, C, OT
If the Texans do not take any form of offensive line with this selection…. Fire the entire front office. Expeditiously.
NFL Comparison: James Daniels
#24 Oakland Raiders(via Bears)- Devin Bush LB, Michigan
Team Needs: DE, CB, WR, LB
Here he is again, Chucky himself. Taking the draft and children’s nightmares by storm. The Raiders “GM” Mike Mayock picks a cornerstone to his defense by selecting Devin Bush out of Michigan.
NFL Comparison: Ryan Shazier
#25 Philadelphia Eagles- Josh Jacobs RB, Alabama
Team Needs: CB, RB, OT, DE
Adding to the arsenal and welcoming back Carson Wentz will be Josh Jacobs. The talented but under utilized back has been the top of a weak RB class and may be the only running back taken in the first round.
NFL Comparison: Alvin Kamara
#26 Indianapolis Colts- Deandre Baker CB, Georgia
Team Needs: WR, CB, S, DT
Kind of a smaller player, though Defensive backs wear that trait very well. When you watch him on Tape, you cannot find many “my bad” plays. Played top receiver talent over his time at UGA.
NFL Comparison: Joe Haden
#27 Oakland Raiders (via Cowboys)- N’keal Harry WR, Arizona State
Team Needs: DE, CB, WR, LB
Big target for Kyler to grow with. Harry is a 50/50 jump ball guy who will hopefully play opposite side of AB. Lets just hope N’keal doesn’t DM AB asking for pointers. Things could turn ugly 4 years from now.
NFL Comparison: Allen Robinson
#28 San Diego Chargers- Christian Wilkins DT, Clemson
Team Needs: DT, G/C, LB, CB
DLU is at it again submitting yet another 1st rounder. Wilkins is joining a stacked line with Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa already screaming of the edges. His job will be to lock down the middle, Wilkins is big guy strong enough to over power many Guards and Centers.
NFL Comparison: Fletcher Cox
#29 Kansas City Chiefs- Jerry Tillery DL, Notre Dame
Team Needs: DT, G/C, CB, S
6’6″ 295lbs is very awkward to move. Good luck to the Guards and Centers who have to take this guy regularly requires double teams.
NFL Comparison: Stephon Tuitt
#30 Green Bay Packers- Chauncey Gardner-Johnson S, Florida
Team Needs: Edge Rush, S, DE, G
This young mans performance in the Peach Bowl win over Michigan has helped his drafts stock tremendously. CGJ has a history of poor tackling, bad angles and being out of position. He also at times prefers extra contact over the sure tackle. That was the 2017 CGJ. 2018 CGJ was a leader and a baller. Not only did he flip his own career around but he helped lead the Gators to a very Surprising season.
NFL Comparison: Eric Berry
#31 Los Angeles Rams- Brian Burns OLB, Florida State
Team Needs: OLB, S, ILB, G
Quick twitch, fast player off the edge. Looking to transition from a hand on the ground player to a 2 point stance. Specializing in rushing the QB. This should be fun to watch when him and Dante Fowler are racing to the QB.
NFL Comparison: Jamie Collins
#32 The New England Patriots– Noah Fant TE, Iowa
Team Needs: Pass Rush, DT, WR, TE
The Pats actually change things up and draft for need. Tom Brady is not getting any younger and TE has been a key in Tom’s career. With the departure of Gronk, there has been a huge void created. A pass catching Tight End is needed.
NFL Comparison: George Kittle
