NFL Week 12 Picks: Thanks for Playing, Part II

We had a rough Week 11 so we’re making Week 12 extra special to get us back on track. Can we reheat some leftovers, or is our turkey cooked?

NFL Week 12 Picks: Thanks for Playing, Part II

Estimated Reading Time: 6 Minutes

Well, that sucked.

Having our worst week of the year was definitely not the plan for Week 11. To try and turn the tide and celebrate Thanksgiving we’re going to do something we haven’t done all year: ick the Thursday games!

That went poorly.

Also, we’re going to give you a person or thing who should give thanks for each of these games.

Gobble, gobble baby.

Last Week and Thanksgiving = 6-11

Season-to-Date = 82-72-2

Week 12 of the 2021 NFL Season

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals (-4.5)

Keith Butler

This seems like a previous clear choice here as the Steelers Defensive Coordinator has to be thrilled to get blue chip starters back on his side of the ball.

Joe Burrow better load up on the stuffing and potatoes on Thanksgiving because he’s going to spend a lot of energy on Sunday trying to put points on the board.

The Pick = Pittsburgh

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Indianapolis Colts (+2.5)

Tom Brady

Brady has defeated the Colts more than any non-AFC East team in the NFL (11-3 all-time). I know the Colts are one of the hottest teams in the league, but I still like Brady and the Bucs to take care of business in Indy.

The Pick = Tampa Bay

Carolina Panthers @ Miami Dolphins (+1.5)

Panthers Skill Players

The Dolphins defense has given up over 4,000 total yards this season. That’s a lot. In comparison, the Panthers have only given up 3,176 yards.

Carolina’s RB and WR are going to eat more than turkey this week!

The Pick = Carolina

Tennessee Titans @ New England Patriots (-6.5)

Mike Vrabel

Traveling to play a divisional leader after an embarrassing loss to an inferior team seems like a bad mixture.

But Vrabel still has to be riding high after being the final killer of the Brady-Belichick partnership. That playoff loss has to still sting and in order for the Titans to come close in this game they’ll need to feed off their coach’s confidence vs. the Patriots.

The Pick = Tennessee

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants (+3.5)

Cheesesteak Places

I’m assuming Thanksgiving is the one day a year the cheesesteak places are closed in Philly. Then again, you could tell me Eagles fans stuff their turkeys with foot-long subs dripping with meat and cheese and I’d believe that too.

The Pick = New York

Atlanta Falcons @ Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.5)

Matt Ryan’s Perfection Streak

Ryan is a perfect 3-0 in his career vs. Jacksonville. The Falcons will have had 10 days to prepare for this game too.

Please keep in mind I’ve been very wrong this season when picking Atlanta and when picking against Jacksonville.

The Pick = Atlanta

New York Jets @ Houston Texans (-2.5)

Zach Wilson/Bo Callahan Fans

That’s right. He’s back! And what do I think the result will be now that the Jets have their franchise future under center again?

The Pick = Houston

Los Angeles Chargers @ Denver Broncos (+2.5)

Under Bettors

The Broncos have given up the third fewest points in the league. The Chargers have given up the fourth fewest passing yards in the league. This is also a divisional matchup.

The Pick = Los Angeles

Los Angeles Rams @ Green Bay Packers (-0.5)

Terry Cudmore

I am excited for this game and very much looking forward to watching it!

The Pick = Los Angeles

Minnesota Vikings @ San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)

Mike Zimmer

I’ll just leave this here.

The Pick = Minnesota

Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)

Trent Dilfer

If I won a Super Bowl I would talk about it a lot. What would be even better is when others brought it up organically so I didn’t look conceited.

That’s why I guarantee the Dilfer Family Thanksgiving has this game on. And when they cut to talking about the Ravens moving to Baltimore from Cleveland and winning a Super Bowl soon after, old Trent’s gonna have a big smile on his face.

The Pick = Baltimore

Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Football Team (+1.5)

Heineken Beer Distributors in the DMV Area

I was at a bar in 2008 to watch the Patriots-Cardinals game. I noticed the bartender making some pretty gross shots during the game. They were Jack Daniel’s and Jägermeister and they were dark black in color.

I learned that a few entrepreneurial gentlemen had made this their shot of choice every time Matt Cassel threw a touchdown pass. Unfortunately for that group Cassel threw three TD’s that day.

I think WFT fans will have an easier and far more tasty option with downing a Heineken every time Taylor Heinicke completes a pass in the end zone.

The Pick = Washington

There it is. Feels like a solid plan to get us back on the right path.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to you and yours!

Terry is from Massachusetts and is a passionate fan of the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and Bruins. He also will admit he only pays attention to Syracuse basketball when they're good. If there's a Twitter trade rumor even remotely associated with one of his teams, he's likely fallen for it. Finally, he believes 100% that if the Celtics had beaten the Heat in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals they would have swept the Thunder in the Finals.
