NFL WEEK 13 Late Game Picks: Vikings Upset Pats; Steelers Nip Chargers in Sunday Night Thriller

Estimated Reading Time: 4 Minutes

Alrighty, to the late game picks!

Last Week Record: 11-4

Season Record: 71-41

Jets at Titans (Sunday @ 4:05PM ET)

The Jets are miserable and the Titans have a lot more to play for at 5-6. Tennessee will look to get back to .500 and back into the AFC Wild Card mix. Tennessee plays much better at home, and I think they will have no problem handling the Jets. Titans win 28-17.

Chiefs at Raiders (Sunday @ 4:05PM ET)

I won’t get too deep into the Kareem Hunt incident, but it was awful…disgusting… and I hope the NFL figures their s*** out, because the league simply did not do enough with the evidence and information it had SINCE FEBRUARY… PERIOD.

Sure, the league will go full Columbo when it involves deflated balls, but when it comes to domestic violence the NFL just shrugs and says well it is what it is – we tried. Not good enough…absolutely ridiculous. You even HIRED INVESTIGATORS AFTER THE RAY RICE INCIDENT. And yet I guess we STILL have TMZ as the league’s sharpest private investigator. Hell, the New York Giants hired a private investigator to monitor Odell Beckham Jr.’s off-field behavior, so don’t tell me that the Chiefs couldn’t have done something to look into the matter either. Ridiculous. Has the league not learned a thing from the Ray Rice incident?

It’s unfortunate that the Raiders are so bad, because I’d love to see them knock the s*** out of this Chiefs team, but unfortunately that will not be the case. Chiefs win 45-24.

Vikings at Patriots (Sunday @ 4:25PM ET)

Aaaaah yesssss this is my preseason Super Bowl matchup pick! Vikings vs. Patriots, this will be a good one. The Patriots are at home, and so this could very well be a Patriots win because they practically never lose at Gillette. But with the Vikings sitting at 6-4-1 in second place in the NFC North, in order for them to get to the Super Bowl and fulfill my genius preseason prediction (muhahaha) they probably need to win this game.

I like how the Vikings defense has been playing lately, and I’m not so sure if New England will be able to bring enough pressure to Kirk Cousins. Patriots are 25th in the league in getting after the passer. I’d be curious to see who Stephon Gilmore will mostly match up against. Will it be Stefon Diggs or Adam Thielen? Pick your poison.

So, will we see these two teams meet again in the Super Bowl? It’s honestly highly unlikely, but for now sit back and enjoy this one, because it will be good. It will be OVERTIME-good! But I like the Vikings a little more right now. Vikings win 23-20 in OT.

49ers at Seahawks (Sunday @ 4:25PM ET)

Richard Sherman faces his old team in his old stomping grounds, and no matter what Sherman does here, I think the Niners will be overwhelmed. Seahawks are trying to solidify a Wild Card spot in the NFC and this is a game they cannot lose. Seattle still has Minnesota and Kansas City left on their schedule.

Maybe Sherman gets his pick and makes some noise, but it will be Russell Wilson who notches the win. Seahawks win 20-10.

Chargers at Steelers (Sunday Night @ 8:20PM ET)

I’ve been going back-and-forth with this pick. But having Melvin Gordon out could be the huge difference-maker. Austin Ekeler is no joke, but he’s also no Melvin Gordon either.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh will look to rebound after shooting themselves in the foot against Denver last week. The Steelers return home and have an opportunity to create some serious separation in the AFC North. Big Ben loves playing at home and he loves playing at prime-time hour so I’ll look for him to rebound here. If the Steelers have a secondary meltdown, however, the Philip Rivers and the Chargers will run away with this game.

Perhaps these two teams will meet again in the playoffs, but for now, I’ll take Pittsburgh to win a very close Sunday Night match. Steelers win 33-30.

Redskins at Eagles (Monday Night @ 8:15PM ET)

The Redskins are completely obliterated by injuries and they go on the road to face an Eagles team who are desperately trying to claw into the NFC playoff picture. It’s not going to be easy for Washington. I like the Eagles to nab a big statement win here. Eagles win 26-14.

Enjoy the games!

At the collegiate level, he is a Notre Dame and Syracuse fan (yeah he can root for both, and what?!) He must, however, find a soccer team to root for. So him out there. All suggestions are welcome. You can catch Matt on the Turf mostly covering NFL, NBA, MLB, College Football and Basketball, and Horse Racing (that is not a typo, he practically grew up on a racetrack).
