Well, would ya look at this. We have a Thursday Night Football game with something on the line. This week’s matchup brings you to the AFC South as the Colts and Titans battle it out for first place in the division. If the Colts win, they will be tied for first with Tennessee. If the Titans win, they will take a commanding lead of the division, as they are currently one game up over Indianapolis. So much on the line!
Will soon-to-be-unemployed VP Mike Pence send a good luck message to his hometown Colts before the game? Will he symbolically walk out of his living room while the game is on in protest? Or will he continue to accuse multiple states of voter fraud and that Trump is the real winner of the election? YOUR MOVE, VP!
- Teams: Colts (5-3) & Titans (6-2)
- Date: Thursday, November 12, 2020
- Game Time: 8:20 PM ET
- Venue: Nissan Stadium – Nashville, TN
- Network: FOX
The Colts offense is boring
There’s no getting around this. The Colts offense is boring! There is nothing to be excited about on this side of the ball. Their quarterback is a 39-year-old with enough children + him and his wife to field a full NFL offense. They have no receivers leading any relevant category (if anyone finds T.Y. Hilton, I’m sure his family is looking for him). They have a carousel of running backs that makes playing any of them a nightmare for fantasy owners. I hate this offense. The only redeeming quality of this offense is it’s fun to say Mo Alie-Cox really fast.
The thing keeping this team relevant in the 2020 season is their defense. Over the years, the Colts were always known for their high-powered offenses with the likes of Peyton Manning & Andrew Luck. Once Luck opted for retirement rather than play with this putrid offense, the team had to pivot.
The Colts defense, lead by star cornerback Xavier Rhodes, loves to intercept the football. They rank 3rd in the league in interceptions with 4 Colts each picking 2 passes. This team also doesn’t give up touchdowns easily via air or ground. They are tied for second in fewest touchdowns allowed for both methods. This defense will certainly be put to the test with the likes of Derrick Henry and AJ Brown.
Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, & AJ Brown – The Titans’ Holy Trinity
The second coming of Ryan Tannehill has been nothing short of amazing to witness. The Miami Dolphins wrote this guy off after the 2018 season in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick & Josh Rosen (ha). Currently, Tannehill ranks 5th among all QBs in TD passes with 19 and 6 of them going to AJ Brown. Another 6 have gone to breakout tight end Jonnu Smith who is finally getting the chance to prove himself with Delanie Walker out of the mix. What more needs to be said about Derrick Henry? He’s second in the league in rushing yards and third in rushing touchdowns. There are a lot of people I would not want to try to tackle in the NFL but I think Henry would be at the top of my list. Shout out to Robert Spillane from the Steelers for this SAVAGE tackle, though.
In all honesty, the Titans should probably have a better record than they do. They came into some bad luck against the Steelers with Stephen Gostkowski missing a fairly easy field goal to take them into overtime (the curse of the Terrible Towel, y’all). Also, they lost to the Bengals. They HAVE to be embarrassed by that.
So, who’s going to win?
Back to back wins for this guy! Let’s keep the pick train rolling this week. We have a solid defense going up against an electric offense and a battle for the division. This one is going to be a grind it out game that MAYBE gets decided by a field goal or last minute touchdown. The last two games I predicted blow outs.
