The Turf Weighs In: Closer Entrance Music

Estimated Reading Time: 4 Minutes

If you are a sports fan, you have likely spent considerable time saying things like, “What I would do is…”.

This can include second-guessing coaching decisions or free-agent destination choices, or even a potential nickname.

Or maybe you have even thought about the equipment choices you would make. It’s okay, we have all created ourselves in a video game and spent way more time than necessary deciding on which pair of skates or type of helmet your avatar is gonna rock.

And then it can even include any theatrics you might introduce into your athletic persona. And one of the biggest examples of this in sports, is the closer entrance song choice.

We at the Turf spent an entire afternoon sharing and debating what we would want the crowd to hear if we came sprinting out of the bullpen in the bottom of the 9th. Please enjoy how we would express our athletic prowess through song.

Kevin Morin – “Welcome Home” by Coheed and Cambria

Andrew Mark Wilhelm – “Famous Last Words” by My Chemical Romance

Justin Colombo – “Home” by Marc Broussard (from 2:19 on)

Mike Lacey – “The Future Freaks Me Out” by Motion City Soundtrack

Ryan Kelly – “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” by Good Charlotte

Josh Hansen – “Firework” by Katy Perry

Mark DiGiammarino – “Ladies and Gentlemen” by Saliva

Ellen Adair – “Everything in Its Right Place” by Radiohead

CJ LaRoche – “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns ‘N Roses

Craig Kaufman – “Shake Me Like a Monkey” by Dave Matthews Band

Ned Donovan – “How We Living” by Michael Franti & Spearhead

Terry Cudmore – “Sk8er Boi” by Avril Lavigne

So there are the song choices from The Turf. Feel free to provide your own choices or applaud our songs.

Please do not disparage our songs though. At least not mine. I am quite sensitive.

Terry is from Massachusetts and is a passionate fan of the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and Bruins. He also will admit he only pays attention to Syracuse basketball when they're good. If there's a Twitter trade rumor even remotely associated with one of his teams, he's likely fallen for it. Finally, he believes 100% that if the Celtics had beaten the Heat in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals they would have swept the Thunder in the Finals.
